This morning we were able to tour the YMCA at ACRC with Executive Director Diane Baker. This is also our current home base for CEO and we greatly appreciate their commitment to the CEO Program! Some of our students who work at the Y even stepped in to help share about a few of the different areas at the Y!
Students asked a variety of questions that allowed them to understanding the inner workings of the YMCA and the daily operations. One of the newer features of the Y is the 24/7 access. It was interesting to learn about all of the background work that went into this decision from taking surveys of members, background research with other Y's, and navigating the security of the building. This was a big step that has worked well for the Y.
It was a great morning with many strong takeaways!
- They strive to make the Y welcoming and accessible.
- It is expensive to run but they work hard to keep rates that accessible while keeping the Y running properly.
- Help people to understand the WHY behind decisions
- Listen to the people around you when they give you a nudge to do somethings.
- You never know when a connection will change your life, so keep those connections.
- If you’re comfortable, become uncomfortable. This is where so much growth can take place.
Thank you so much for a great visit, many fantastic insights and sharing your space as our home base!
