This morning we visited Kestner Electric with Kevin Kestner. His father started the business in 1973 in a farmhouse. Kevin left home, returned Austin in 1984, and started working for his dad. He became part of the IBEW electrical union and joined their apprentice program where he received his journeyman’s electrical license. He purchased the business from his father and in 2015 ended up selling to Egan Company our of the cities. They kept the Kestner Electric name on the vans and business in order to maintain the strong community connection that has been built. When he began the transition with Egan he served as the general manager for four years and he then planned to retire. After the four years the company was in need of a service truck position, so Kevin decided to stay on and take this position instead of retiring. He expressed that word of mouth is going to be the most valuable advertising you can have. Kevin emphasized their focus on service to their customers. “ If you take really good care of your customers, they will take really good care of you.” It is clear that their success as a business is connected to their service and how they operate with customers. He shared many valuable pieces of advice and some great humor! Thanks for a wonderful morning, Kevin! @isd492 Pacelli Catholic Schools
