SMART is owned and operated by Cedar Valley Services, Inc., a nonprofit in southern Minnesota that provides work rehabilitation to adults with disabilities; this work is empowering to hundreds of individuals throughout all the communities served, including Austin, Albert Lea, and Owatonna. Cedar Valley Services dates back to 1960 and has grown over the years to employ hundreds of staff. With transportation being a challenge for many in our communities, Cedar Valley Services was happy to be the 5311 grantee for ‘Public Transportation’ in our area. In 2016, SMART was named the Transit Agency of the Year in the state of Minnesota by the Minnesota Public Transit Association. SMART’s Austin office is located at 2803 West Oakland Avenue – this houses our Austin operations as well as our dispatch team for all four counties. Our office hours are 6:00am – 6:00pm Monday through Friday, and 9:00am – 3:00pm on Saturdays.
