Today we visited Accentra Credit Union and were able to hear from their team. We found that credit unions focus on financial literacy and providing customers with financial counseling in order to help them be successful with their finances, which sets them apart from some other banks. Accentra is a not-for-profit business with strong ties to the Austin community. Students learned about the board of directors and how these members are elected by the overall membership. The team also highlighted how Accentra focuses on the customer and community connections through their services and fundraisers such as food drives, United Way, and the Children’s Miracle Network. We heard about the financial aspects of managing the bank and managing the bank in general.
